Over half of all devices at this year’s CES, the world’s largest consumer electronics trade show, were Internet connected. Nearly 60% of those were non-traditional computing devices such as TVs, cars, refrigerators and washing machines. Connected devices are proliferating throughout our homes and the world around us. Which means consumers are about to become a whole lot more connected to the world.

$700. Off Final Cut Pro! WOW

More iPad2

When Apple announced the first generation iPad we all knew They had something special! I remember watching Steve Jobs on stage durning the keynote, he looked like a little kid on Christmas morning. However when iPad2 was launched I had my doubts as to how a new device would fair this soon after the 1st edition. Most especially in today’s enconamny.

Well I would have to say the new thinner, lighter, faster iPad2 has done quite well! Now I won’t bore you to much with stats. However some of the numbers are staggering. Apple has shipped between 2.4 to 2.6 Million new devices in less than a month! And are preparing to sell 12 million units in the next quarter, WOW!

Now I have already shared my story with you all on how I was able to pick one up on launch day, simply by dumb luck I was just at the right place at the right time. However, from the moment I slide my ATM Card to complete my purchase I was really questioning my self. Should I be spending $499. dollars on some thing I already have. Not to mention I was stuck getting a 16 GB model (Target only had 5 in stock all Black 16’s) when it comes to buying iOS devices I believe you should get the largest amount of storage you can. This is not a unit you can upgrade. I really wanted a 64gb model.

My first gen iPad is a 64 and I use most all of it. (I watch a lot of Video Podcasts) So here I am with my new iPad in hand happy yet some what disappointed. I did consider simply leaving it sealed in the box and selling the unit. I mean people get crazy about these things and have to have them NOW. I Know! So after a quick look at E-Bay and Craig’s List it became pretty clear that a lot of folks had this plan. So I took out my razor knife and busted the seal.

So here I am playing with my new toy for a good hour or so when I needed to check something on my 1st gen iPad. When I reached over to pick it up of the table, it was picking up a cast iron skillet! I am not kidding the 2nd gen is way lighter! That was my first indication that I was possibly going to keep this thing. Now I have had it for just about 3 weeks and I simply love it. The size is great it really does feel a ton lighter, smaller and faster. So it is settled I am keeping it! I order my Zagg invisashield and get the thing protected and replace it as my daily iPad.

Now I have 2 iPads, well no worries I do have a Screen Cast web site where I do a lot of iOS tutorials. I have a jail broken iPhone 4 (need to JB in order to screencast with the iOS devices) so I will jail break the old iPad for use on my Screen Casting Show.

Still, something about that 16 gig unit is bugging me, maybe I should try to sell my 1st gen and get a 64. I just can’t seem to let this go.

So back to crags list to see what they are going for. No way the are selling for like $500. bucks I paid $850 less than a year ago. Now I under stand that’s technology but I just cant lose that much that quick.

So I continue to browse the ads and I see a posting that just blows me away! Someone was in the exact opposite situation I was in. She, like me happened to stumble upon one at Target. However in her case she was after the 16gb model and all they had was 64gb units. So she bought it anyway thinking like I was better just get what’s here now.

Now the cool part is she has had this for 5 days and has yet to open it. Desperate to sell it for at least a $20 profit no luck. She even try’s just selling it for her cost, again no luck. So she decides to offer a trade with anyone who has a 16 and any amount of cash she can get. I E-mail her of course and offer a trade mine for hers plus half the price difference…and she agrees!

I simply can’t believe this! So in the end I was able to get the 64 gig model and save $200. On it. I figured as much money I have spent on Apple products over the years it was time to catch a break!

So will iPad 2 Sell? I think YES…

Apple’s suppliers have shipped between 2.4 million and 2.6 million iPad 2 tablets to date, a new report claims. Citing sources at touch panel suppliers in Taiwan, industry watcher DigiTimes states that shipments of Apple’s iPad 2 have outpaced the original iPad. Apple is reportedly expected to take delivery of between 4 million and 4.3 million iPad 2 units each month between April and June, totaling over 12 million units for the second quarter. The iPad 2 has seen tremendous demand in the U.S. and globally, having sold out in nearly every retail location that made the tablet available. Lines continue to form as new inventory arrives at retail locations abroad, and strong sales have kept stock low at U.S. retailers as well. Shipping estimates for online orders placed on Apple’s website improved to 2-3 weeks last month but that is where they have remained ever since, suggesting supply still hasn’t caught up with demand. Apple’s iPad 2 launched on March 11th in the U.S., and we said in our review that it pushed Apple’s already huge lead in the tablet space even further.

More to come….
